Australia has turned in a day of medals and memorable moments on Day 5 of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships track cycling. 

It’s been an exceptional night for the ARA Australian Cycling Team in Glasgow.

At the track, para-cycling gold medals to Alana Forster and Emily Petricola were the highlights of a brilliant session. If you can, watch the last six laps of the C5 women’s scratch race – inspirational stuff!

We also saw Alex Manly and Georgia Baker fight to a brilliant silver in the women’s Madison. That was despite Alex hitting the deck and shredding her skinsuit. Such a determined ride by the girls.

Australia has had another strong day in the BMX Challenge in Glasgow, with 10 riders in green-and-gold progressing through to their finals overnight.

Logan Martin has come desperately close to reclaiming a rainbow jersey for the ARA Australian Cycling Team, denied only by an exceptional performance from Kieran Reilly of Great Britain.

Following the gran fondo and medio fondo races on Friday, it was time for amateur riders to line up for the race against the clock. See how the Aussies went in the individual time trial.

Amanda Reid has delivered ARA Australian Cycling Team its first rainbow jersey at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships on Day 4 at the track, winning the Women C2 500m Time Trial title. 

Australian neo-pro Matthew Dinham has astonished the cycling world today by riding to seventh place in the elite men’s road race world championship.

The 23-year-old Sydneysider was in the morning breakaway, yet managed to follow the favourites deep into the high-intensity race in Glasgow.

Dinham was a late call-up for the ARA Australian Cycling Team after the withdrawal of Caleb Ewan. The plan had been to get him into an early move, but that was for the sake of supporting his team’s experienced leaders, principally Michael Matthews.

Australia will send four riders to compete in the Observed Trials at a world championship, the largest ever number of trials riders selected to represent Australia at the event.

The off-road action continues with members of the ARA Australian Cycling team ready to rip around the cross-country course at Glentress from Tuesday.
