October 2025 may seem a long way up the road, but Aussie cyclists are already planning to book their place at the world’s premier amateur race – which, next year, will be right on our doorstep.

The 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are heading to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, and Australian riders have the advantage to qualify at home soil at the 2024 Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo, which is being held this spring, on September 15.

Katherine Hosking and Tristan Nash have come away from the opening two rounds of the 2024 AusCycling National Cyclo-cross series in Adelaide undefeated in the elite men and women. 

Western Australian cyclist Ben O’Connor says he is “happy” after placing fourth at the Giro d’Italia, which saw two Australians finish in the top 10 overall.

The Perth climber came into the race with podium ambitions. He ultimately finished 1 minute 33 seconds behind third place, and 12 minutes behind Slovenian phenom Tadej Pogačar, whose win never looked in doubt.

AusCycling is pleased to announce the athletes categorised as Emerging and Developing in the disciplines of track, road, BMX racing, BMX freestyle and mountain bike XCO for 2024/25.  

Brown won two stages and the overall, while Sarah Roy won the only other stage to complete Aussie domination in northwestern France.

Meet a remarkable group of women doing remarkable things on bikes.

At just 17-years-old Sarah Nicki continues to emerge as the next star of Australian female BMX Freestyle. 

In her short career she has already achieved the highest success at a national level, claiming back-to-back BMX Freestyle national titles in 2022 and 2023. 

On the international stage Nicki took out the 2023 Oceania Championships, and as a member of the ARA Australian Cycling Team has competed at numerous UCI World Cup events where she secured a number of top-20 results.

Zombie Park in Adelaide will come alive again this weekend for rounds 1 and 2 of the 2024 AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Series. But the track might not be how you remember it from years past.  

Successful riders will compete for the ARA Australian Cycling Team at the world’s premier under-23 stage race.
