Few athletes, in any sport, leave a legacy that stands the test of time like Opperman.
His greatest feats were achieved almost 90 years ago.
In the era of Bradman and Phar Lap he captured the nations attention and remains a household name.
Sir Hubert Opperman, affectionately known as Oppy by Australian and French crowds, earned international acclaim for his endurance feats in the 1920s and 1930s.
Troy Brosnan
Troy Brosnan hails from Adelaide, South Australia and took up downhill riding at the age of 13.
Troy was picked up by the Monster Energy/Specialized team to race on the World Cup Series circuit which meant he left school and his parents to race overseas for 6 months.
He made a statement in his first year on the World Cup circuit by winning the World Cup Junior Overall title.
Troy has been racing with Canyon Factory Collective Team since 2018 and continues to feature on the podium at World Cup and World Championship level.
Tracey Hannah
Tracey Hannah was born in Cairns, Queensland and still calls the Far North Queensland city home.
She raced her first national BMX title when she was 4 years old. Tracey chose to do MTB when she saw her eldest brother, was racing down a hill very fast on an MTB camp in 1997.
When she was 13 her parents let her try downhill riding. As soon as she was 14, she raced for the national titles in elite, and she came in 2nd place.
Sharon Heap
Sharon Heap is one of Australia's most inspiring mountain biker riders having only taken up the sport in her 40's.
Sharon is based on the Gold Coast and competes across a variety of disciplines.
Her first international race was the 2003 Masters World Champs in Canada.

Nathan Rennie
Nathan Rennie was born in Penrith, New South Wales and currently resides on the Gold Coast.
He started riding at the age of 5 BUT began his MTB affair when he was 14 years old and quickly found himself at the pinnacle of the sport by becoming Junior Downhill World Champion in 1999.
Rennie was part of a golden era for Australian downhill riders on the overseas circuit.

Michael Hannah
Michael Hannah was born in Victoria but now bides his time between Cairns in Queensland and North America.
Hannah is one of Australia's downhill legends and a mainstay on the World Cup circuit.
Hannah began his international racing career in 2000 in Sierra Nevada, US where he finished with a silver in the Junior Downhill at the World Championships.

Jason English currently lives in Port Macqaurie and is considered one of Australia's best endurance mountain bikers.
The high school teacher has dominated, what's considered to be an extreme discipline for the better part of a decade at home and overseas.
